Tranquil Bleeding Hearts

Description
Tranquility comes sometimes after our hearts have to bleed. The Bleeding Hearts flower has symbolized some of the heartache I had raising children but the peace and joy I receive back from them make it all worth while. My daughter planted some Bleeding Hearts for me several years back and every spring I am reminded of her love for me... and boy can she make my heart bleed!

Honestly, I've never done colored pencil on black. By the work in the contest I get inspired. I don't use the color black in any of my drawings. It's nice to see all these colored pencil masterpieces coming forward.
Linda Nielsen replied:
Yes I get inspired with all the talent here too On most of my portraits I use various skin colored paper then I build the light and shadows from that base color. Black paper is also a great foundation to work from on other subjects too. Give the color paper a try, I think you would like it.

Thank you for entering my contest. I believe colored pencil drawing is underrated. Obviously, you understand how much goes into complete work. Your work is fabulous and good luck...not that's it's needed I'm sure.
Linda Nielsen replied:
I look forward to your contest Donald. Thanks so much for your kind words and support. Yes I agree that colored pencil is underrated. When I first learned the magic of using them I got hooked....I use the Prisma pencils and llike to use a colorless blender on some of my work. Thanks again.

They are painful Linda. But pain is part of life as your words point out.And I suppose it is a constant practise to allow pain to be there, but not to let it overwhelm and to look beyond it. Your beautiful child holding that flower seems to symbolize holding the pain in a beautiful space. I cant explain it more than that in words. But you have painted just that !
Linda Nielsen replied:
I understand exactly what you mean Jane and you explained it perfectly....thanks again, I value your thoughts.
